How we handle your data

Add Page Numbers to PDF

Add page numbers to a workflow packet so every reviewer can cite the same page during review or handoff. Numbers already printed on pages stay as they are.

Synthetic example — review the operation settings before running.

A practical guide

Give reviewers a shared page reference.

  1. Choose the final packet and select standard numbering or Bates identifiers.
  2. Set the start value and placement for this single PDF.
  3. Preview representative pages and check the sequence before downloading.

Try this example

Number a nine-page merged procedure starting at 1, bottom right. Verify the number after each source-document boundary and at the end of the packet.

Before

  • Unnumbered pages

After

  • Pages labelled 1,2,3
Input and expected output for this task. Illustrative example.

Before you start: Existing printed numbers remain. Numbering does not update PDF page-label metadata or certify legal numbering.

Add a text status mark
What you get

Add page numbers to a PDF and choose their position, starting number and style.

Limits and important details

Bates: one PDF up to 10 MiB/200 pages, 40 MiB output, printable ASCII prefix up to 24 characters and suffix up to 16, 1-9 minimum digits and counters up to 999999999. This is not multi-file batch numbering or a certified legal workflow. Numbering adds text; it does not change PDF page labels or remove existing numbers. Overlays may cover content. Pages smaller than 72 pt and unsupported rotations are rejected.

Example

Start at 3 for a report with a separate cover and contents page. Choose bottom center, then Preview latest PDF after conversion.
