Sanitize PDF
Sanitize an incoming PDF before it moves on: scripts, risky actions and attachments are removed, while links, bookmarks and form fields stay in place.
Six pages with an opening script, an attached notes.txt and document information. The summary should count one script, one attachment and the information fields.
Your documents stay on this device. Tool downloads and usage statistics do not include file contents.
Local limits: Max single file: 60 MB

A practical guide
Clean it before handoff.
- Choose one PDF.
- Sanitize it; scripts, risky actions, attachments, XFA, XMP and document information are removed.
- Read the removal summary and keep the clean copy; saving invalidates digital signatures.
Try this example
Sanitize supplier PDFs received by email before they enter the shared drive.
Before
- PDF with scripts, attachments and metadata
After
- Clean copy with the same pages and links
Before you start: Links, bookmarks, form fields and page content remain. Text and images inside pages are not changed; this is not redaction.
Check what the clean copy containsWhat you get
Remove scripts, risky actions, attachments, XFA, XMP metadata and document information, keeping pages, links, bookmarks and form fields.
Limits and important details
One PDF. Removes document scripts, launch/submit/import actions, additional actions, attachments, XFA, XMP metadata and document information. Links, bookmarks, form fields and page content remain. Saving invalidates digital signatures.
Example
Sanitize the sample: its opening script, attachment and metadata are removed and counted in the summary, and its two pages stay unchanged.
