How we handle your data

Split PDF by Text

Split a batch export into separate documents at every page that carries the document heading. Matching ignores case; scanned pages need a text layer.

Six pages labeled Sample 1 - Page 1 to 6. Split at the text Page 4: part 1 should hold pages 1-3 and part 2 pages 4-6.

A practical guide

Break the batch at each heading.

  1. Choose one PDF with selectable text.
  2. Enter the phrase that begins each part, such as Account Statement or Invoice No.
  3. Split it and check the first page of each part; names show the page ranges.

Try this example

Split a 60-page scanned-and-OCRed batch into invoices at the phrase Invoice No.

Before

  • Statements, 12 pages

After

  • Part 1: pages 1-4
  • Part 2: pages 5-9
  • Part 3: pages 10-12
Input and expected output for this task. Illustrative example.

Before you start: Pages before the first match form part 1. Matching ignores case and extra spaces. Scanned pages need a text layer first (Searchable PDF).

Rename the parts by their content
What you get

Start a new PDF at every page that contains the phrase you enter, such as a statement or chapter heading. Pages keep their order.

Limits and important details

One PDF with selectable text, up to 60 MB and 500 pages; up to 200 parts. The phrase is matched without case; scanned pages without a text layer never match.

Example

Split the six-page sample at the phrase Page 4: part 1 holds pages 1-3 and part 2 holds pages 4-6.
